Savings on Your Valuable Disk Space The
DELETE command allows you to quickly delete all, selected or expired
files. With the TRUNCATE command you can free the unused space at then
end of a SAM or ISAM datasets or the VTOC.
VTOC Alteration and Recovery With the VSERV/VSE CREATE
command you may move a VTOC, change a VTOC or re-create a destroyed
VTOC. In addition, you may alter/add information relating to a device
or to a particular file or group of files with the UPDATE and RENAME
commands.
Dynamic Dataset Allocation The ALLOCATE command supplies
the user with the ability to allocate files quickly and with a minimum
of information. You may use this command to allocate a dataset either
dynamically, without specifying the exact extents, or to an exact location
on the device.
Device Initialization Using the INIT command, VSERV/VSE
provides support for fast initialization of DASD devices, creating
a new volume label and VTOC.
Complete Security VSERV/VSE may be tailored, during
installation, so that selected commands require passwords to function.
Commands may even be completely disabled.
